Kimberley Nordic Club fundraising for ski playground

The Kimberley Nordic Club’s annual fundraiser is back! This is the one opportunity per year to donate to a key club initiative and receive a tax receipt.

This year we are raising funds to build a new ski playground at Iker’s Landing. A ski playground is a designated location which has been developed or set up to assist children and adults to learn to ski naturally, and which provides a variety of skiing discoveries. They are both fun to use and offer excellent exposure to various terrain features.

The project includes three separate “roller coaster dip” trails that originate on Landsem and end in Iker’s Landing. These three roller trails will vary in difficulty from beginner to advanced, and provide new opportunities for skill development and play at Iker’s.

The project involves resurfacing of the hill adjacent to Landsem. We will hire an excavator to build permanent roller features on the hill, using fill that is stored on site.

Once complete, the playground will naturally form each winter and be maintained with the Ginzu groomer.

The new trails will also benefit the Freewheelers cycling club youth programs in the summer months.

The fundraiser ends April 8.
