Kimberley RCMP warn about new scam
Kimberley RCMP this morning issued a new phone scam alert on social media, which has been confirmed by Telus.
“A local resident received a call from “Fibernetics Corporation” advising that they were acting on behalf of Telus and could give her 40-60% off her current rates as she was a loyal Telus customer. The caller provided his name and employee number and then proceeded to ask for her address, date of birth and then photo ID,” RCMP outlined in a Facebook post.
“Telus has confirmed this is a scam. Their employees would never give you an employee number or ask for photo ID over the telephone. Be very cautious about who you give personal information to. Stay safe!”
