KNC hosting cross-country championships this weekend

The Kimberley Nordic Club (KNC) is hosting the Canada Cup Western Canadian Cross Country Ski Championships this weekend.

This four-day race event will kick off on Thursday, January 30 and continue until Sunday, February 2.

We are excited to host over 575 highly competitive skiers from all across the world, right here in Kimberley.

The Nordic Centre will be a busy place this weekend, so we encourage all event participants and visitors to take advantage of public transit.

The free community shuttle will continue to run as usual from town up to KNC. We will also have an event shuttle, operated by the Kimberley Independent School, running back and forth from the event overflow parking lot at Trickle Creek Golf Resort up to KNC.

We welcome all local skiers to come up and cheer on our Kimberley athletes this weekend.

All recreational ski trails beyond Iker’s Landing will remain open to the public. There will be a marked trail from the stadium to access the rec trails without crossing onto the race course.

In order to prepare the course each night, we will not be offering night skiing this coming Thursday to Saturday and the trail lights will remain off.

We look forward to another exciting race weekend!
