Local Freemasons hosting first Annual Communication

The Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon is pleased to announce that it is holding its Annual Communication at the Kimberley Conference Centre on June 24 and 25.

Hundreds of Freemasons and their families from around British Columbia will descend on Kimberley, with a number of visitors from other provinces and states also in attendance.

This marks the first time this annual event has been held in the East Kootenay. The event is made particularly special this year, as it marks the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Grand Lodge of British Columbia and the Yukon.

The Annual Communication is being hosted by the Masonic Lodges of Kimberley/Cranbrook, the Elk Valley, Creston, Invermere and Golden.

Organizing Committee Chair David Butt said the Kimberley venue (pictured above) was a natural choice.

“Kimberley has a great conference venue, it’s a world class destination, the town itself is welcoming and there are so many activities in the area to allow families to extend their stay. We are very pleased to welcome all participants to this beautiful region of our province and hope they will enjoy the many attractions we have to offer.”

Freemasonry was first established in Cranbrook in 1900, Kimberley in 1910, Golden in 1887, Creston in 1908, Invermere in 1903 and Fernie in 1908.
