Nitros drop to third in KIJHL Power Rankings
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) completed its eighth week of regular season action for the 2024-25 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlight the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide positioning.
From honourable mention in week seven to number one. The Merritt Centennials are now at the top following a three-win weekend. The Cents defeated the Nelson Leafs 7-3 on Nov. 8, then earned a 6-2 win over the Castlegar Rebels, and completed their Kootenay road trip with a come-from-behind win over the Grand Forks Border Bruins 8-6 on Nov. 10.
The Princeton Posse held their number two spot. They defeated the Revelstoke Grizzlies at home 4-1, then hit the road for 100 Mile House and lost 4-3.
The Kimberley Dynamiters dropped down to number three after being at the top last week. They lost 10-1 to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, then clawed their way back in a game against the Nelson Leafs before losing 7-6 in overtime.
The Beaver Valley Nitehawks dropped one spot. They started their week with a 10-1 win over the Dynamiters, then dropped a 4-2 decision to the Osoyoos Coyotes.
The Grand Forks Border Bruins stay at number five. In their lone game of the week on Sunday, Nov. 10, the Border Bruins lost to the Centennials 8-6, they led 5-2 after the second period.
