No First Saturday in July and August
The Kimberley Arts Council has announced it is cancelling its popular First Saturday festivals for July and August due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have not yet made a decision on September or our annual Oktoberfest and will continue to assess the situation over the next months and decisions will be dependent on direction from authorities. We are continually brainstorming on how we can continue to support the local arts community and work within current health guidelines,” the arts council stated.
Kimberley First Saturday (KFS) has been running for seven years. The May and June First Saturday events were also cancelled.
“We are very appreciative of the continuing support from our partners, including the City of Kimberley, Tourism Kimberley, the Kimberley Chamber of Commerce, RDEK and Columbia Basin Trust,” said Carol Fergus, KFS co-chair. “We are determined to find a way to continue building the vibrancy of our community and supporting the arts; we will figure it out.”
