Notes from City Hall
The next meeting of City of Kimberley council is a Committee-of-the-Whole meeting taking place Monday, February 3 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers upstairs at City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
Garbage Cart Collection in Winter Months
The Operations Department would like to remind residents that the automated garbage truck is designed to be able to pick up carts in all seasons. During the winter months, residents should continue to place their cart in the normal location and ensure that the cart is:
- sitting on the ground (plowed snow or asphalt, not on a snow bank);
- located close enough (within 10 feet or three metres) to the travel portion of the road for pick up;
- at least 1meter (just over three feet) away from other obstructions, such as a vehicle;
- not blocked by any other obstruction that impedes the tipping arm of the truck.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Snow Hauling
Please give city staff room to operate during snow removal. In areas where snow piles are to be hauled away, the city will post temporary “No Parking” signs the afternoon before snow hauling begins. City crews are working as quickly as possible to clear the streets, following the City’s Snow and Ice Management Plan. Residents can view the plan here.
Climate Change Solutions Presentation
The Kimberley Youth Action Network (KYAN) – Environmental Action Team, along with the City of Kimberley and the Citizens Climate Lobby, will host Climate Reality Leader, Laura Sacks, to present Climate Change Solutions on Wednesday, February 12 at Centre 64 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and seats will be first come, first served.
