Joe Pierre re-elected Nasuʔkin in close race
It doesn’t get any closer than this.
ʔaq’am Community Oct. 28 held an election for chief and council, with Nasuʔkin Joe Pierre and Councillor Julie Birdstone each receiving 80 votes.
A recount was conducted and the count remained the same, so as per ʔaq’am Custom Election Regulations, each candidate had their name placed in a receptacle and a draw was held.
Joe Pierre’s name was chosen.
Birdstone and newly elected Councillor Sancira Williams-Jimmy join Pierre on council.
