The Ktunaxa Nation Council is pleased to announce the opening of Mary Basil House, a four bed, year-round, 24 hour adult residential withdrawal management centre located on Ktunaxa ʔamakʔis (Ktunaxa Territory) in ʔa·kisk̓aqǂiʔit (Cranbrook).

The Mary Basil House will provide programming that is culturally grounded and supportive of traditional ways of healing along with a full range of withdrawal management services. While the primary objective is to meet the needs of the indigenous population seeking these specialized services within the interior of British Columbia, non-indigenous people may also access Mary Basil House.

Services provided at the Mary Basil Detox House include counselling, medical and nurse care, assessment, withdrawal management, harm reduction services as well as access to Opioid Agonist Therapy and referrals and service navigation support for social and health services.

“The intake process is initialized through a referral from a person’s family physician or nurse practitioner,” said Debbie Whitehead, Ktunaxa Nation Council Social Sector Director. “Our recovery program, formerly located at the Mary Basil Detox House is still in operation, but has changed locations.”
