Shuswap Band election on Oct. 31

Shuswap Band residents have plenty of choices for chief and council in the upcoming election.

The Shuswap Band called an election Sept. 28, in accordance with the First Nations Elections Act 2021, setting October 31 as the date to vote.

Current Chief Barbara Cote is one of three choices for voters for the Office of Chief, along with Clarissa Stevens and Douglas Warbrick.

Five band members are in the running for two council positions, including incumbents Mark Thomas and Tim Eugene and Linda Darlene Eugene, Richard Ellis Martin and Rosalita Pascal.

Those elected will serve four year terms.
