Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples March May 3

Submitted by ʔaq̓am

On May 3, ʔaq̓am Health and Wellness and Culture and Language will be hosting the Second Annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples March.

We will be meeting at Street Angels at 11:15 a.m. to march down to Rotary Park.

During the march, Chief Cliff will be drumming as this allows us to honor our sisters, brothers and ancestors who have been murdered or have gone missing. There will be guest speakers sharing how their lives have been impacted by having lost a loved one and on the epidemic of violence against Indigenous Peoples.

This is a grassroot movement to raise awareness of the issue while calling for justice and safety for victims and their families.

Mr. Mike’s has donated burgers which will be free of cost. There will be a few local organizations that will host booths that provides resources that individuals can look at and inquire more information if they wish to.

Individuals are welcome to wear Red Dresses to also honour our ancestors and loved ones. All are welcome.

The event will go until 2 p.m. before wrapping up for the day.
