Columbia Valley Cycling Society to release trail guide at its eighth annual AGM
The Columbia Valley Cycling Society will release its new trail guide of cycling and non-motorized trails in the Columbia Valley at its annual AGM, Monday April 8, 7 p.m., Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce Hall at the Invermere Crossroads.
The guide, Trails of the Columbia Valley, features all authorized riding areas in the Columbia Valley and environs. It is the first cycling map of its kind to be developed for the Columbia Valley.
The AGM will chart the course for the upcoming year and recap the volunteer cycling and non-motorized trail advocacy club’s successes of 2012.
The current year will be a busy one with about $100,000 in trail and infrastructure work planned for Mt. Swansea, a fundraiser bike swap, organized trail maintenance days, and a return visit by the International Mountain Bike Association Trail Care Crew.
Just some of the highlights of 2012 were: the development of the Pump n’ Jump Park in Radium; hosting the Columbia Valley Bike Swap; legalization and development of the Kloosifier Trail on the Toby Bench adjacent to Invermere; hosting three volunteer trail maintenance days plus a visit from the International Mountain Bike Association Trail Care Crew; successfully being awarded almost $100,000 to improve trails and infrastructure at Mt. Swansea; and the development of the to-be-released Columbia Valley trail guide.
Come out and hear what your local volunteer cycling group has planned in 2013.
