EKFH gets $22k from Boston Pizza Northstar GM Charity Tournament
There may have been a few lighting strikes that delayed the golf game but nothing could dampen the spirits of 144 golfers who came out to support the recent Boston Pizza Northstar GM Par 3 Charity Golf Tournament.
The second annual event held on August 23 at the Cranbrook Golf Club is an overwhelming success with $22,000 being dedicated to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health for the new six-bed intensive care unit.
âYou know we always hope to see a hole-in-one and one of our vehicles leaving with a lucky golfer but truly the biggest win of the day is knowing we are improving the quality of care at our hospital,â states Pat Spring, co-sponsor of the event.
For those interested the closest shot of the day was a mere nine inches.
The unique par 3 tournament is a partnership between Boston Pizza and Northstar GM. In its two short year existence the benefits are already showing for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with $13,500 last year focused to the digital stereotactic mammography unit and now $22,000 for equipment for the soon to start ICU project. The $20 million project is in the early planning stages with request for proposal and the tendering process underway.
The success of the tournament wouldnât have been possible without the help of many including the Cranbrook Golf Course (Paul Whittingham and team), the volunteers (Art Borle, Brian & Trudy Clifford, Christy Eburne, Cliff Green, Debbie Elliott, Doug Thistle, Glenn Beech, Jenn Smith. Jimmy Robinson, Joyce Hagel, Judy Dickson, Judy Gall, Kim Shatford, Louie Cupello, Marlene Kasner, Marnie Peet, Michelle Evans, Mike Paugh, Pat Bailey, Pat Skordal, Paul & Loree Duczek, Robin & Lacey Sudo, Robin Taylor, Sam Cowan, Sandy Hunter, Starla Atwood and Warren & Sheilah Moore, the BP Girls and Northstar team) plus the amazing generosity of businesses, organizations and individuals who supported the tournament with prizes, hole sponsorship or those who registered to play.
The tournament organizing committee:Â Boston Pizza â Trevor & Angela Gordon, Northstar GMÂ â Pat Spring & Heather Fancy and East Kootenay Foundation for Health â Don MacMillan, Colin Sinclair and Donna Grainger wish to thank all those involved and look forward to welcoming you to the third annual charity tournament next year.
