ICE and Hitmen facing off in first round
The Kootenay ICE and Calgary Hitmen will once again faceoff in the best-of-seven Western Hockey League Eastern Conference Quarter-Final starting March 27 in Cowtown.
The ICE (37-31-1-3) finished the regular season in the first Eastern Conference wild-card place. Kootenay posted a 3-4-0-0 record against the Calgary Hitmen in seven regular season meetings (2-2-0-0 at home, 1-2-0-0 on the road, 1-0 in overtime).
This will mark the second consecutive season in which the ICE and Hitmen meet in the first round of the WHL playoffs.
The Kootenay ICE last week also handed out their 17th annual team awards. Nine different players were recognized for their achievements.
