Lady Avs sign new recruit
College of the Rockies Manager of Athletics Cori Andrichuk is pleased to announce the signing of setter Sarah Wood for the Lady Avalanche volleyball team.
Wood, who comes from Calgary, Alberta, brings determination, patience and diverse experience to the Lady Avs.
Graduating this June from Centennial High School in Calgary, Wood has played various positions in her three years with the Centennial Coyotes before establishing herself as the starting setter. Her experience also includes playing for the Calgary Aces and the Southern Alberta Volleyball Club.
“We are thrilled that Sarah has committed to play for the Avalanche. Her dedication and commitment to volleyball will be a welcome addition to the team,” says Andrichuk.
Wood’s willingness to work hard was demonstrated through her nomination for the Myrna Empy Award for outstanding female Calgary volleyball player and an invitation to Team Alberta selection camp.
Wood is very excited to get to Cranbrook to join the Avalanche. “I am excited to meet new people, build close relationships and compete at a higher level with a team that is ready to work hard and do what it takes to win,” she says.
