Nitros returning to KIJHL finals
The Kimberley Dynamiters had a clear goal at the outset of the 2015/16 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) schedule; to repeat as champions and take another shot at the Cyclone Taylor Cup.
Thanks to a 3-1 game five Kootenay Conference finals victory over the Beaver Valley Nitehawks at Kimberley’s Civic Centre, the Nitros move one big step closer to that goal.
Thanks to a superior regular season record, the Nitros will be hosting the 100 Mile House Wranglers in the KIJHL finals starting Saturday, March 26 in Kimberley.
The Wranglers defeated the Summerland Steam 3-1 in game five of the Okanagan Shuswap Conference final last night.
Two third period goals helped push the Nitros to victory last night before about 1,200 KIJHL fans at the Civic Centre. Tyler Van Steinburg led the charge with a goal and an assist, while Austyn Moser chipped in with two helpers. Jason Richter and Franco Colapaolo also scored for the Dynamiters, while netminder Tyson Brouwer was a wall in net, stopping 29 Nitehawks shots.
Game time Saturday night in Kimberley is 7 p.m.
