Team fundraising to attend Australian hockey tourney
A Cranbrook-based peewee hockey team is currently fundraising in order for it to attend a 2015 tournament in Australia.
To help the kids make it to Newcastle, Australia’s Friendship Hockey Tournament, the team has started a Go Fund Me account and is politely asking the public for donation assistance.
“This once in a lifetime experience includes teams from many different countries and is centred on the idea of building friendships that are started based on their love for hockey,” said Michelle Ridler of Cranbrook Friendship Hockey. “The boys are busy working hard on many fundraising events and getting everything ready for the tournament.”
Over the past number of months they have been busy doing events such as: Puck Toss at a Kootenay ICE WHL game, bottle drives, and bagging groceries. Some upcoming events include: weekend barbeque, games at Sam Steele Days, and more bottle drives among many other things.
“All the boys on the team appreciate any and all donations that will help them get to Australia. Please help reward the boys for all their hard work so they can enjoy a fantastic tournament on the other side of the world,” Ridler said.
