Turkey Run-Off Snowshoe Race Dec. 27
The Kootenay Orienteering Club and Friends of Lois Creek are once again hosting the Turkey Run-Off Snowshoe Race on Dec. 27.
“Last year’s event had over 60 entrants. We are anticipating that the event will continue to grow, with participants coming from Alberta, Idaho and Washington, as well as from the Kootenays. The event is designed with all levels of snowshoeing and orienteering experience, in mind, and should be fun for all ages,” stated Jim Webster of the Kootenay Orienteering club.
The snowshoe race takes place on Kimberley’s Lois Creek Trails, with check-in commencing at 11 a.m. and ending at 11:45 a.m. at 626 Trail St. There will be a mass start at noon.
Kootenay Orienteering Club members’ snowshoe rentals are available for $10.
The races will include 2.5, four and six km circuits and are open to all ages.
Included in the fun will be a bonfire, goodies, prizes, a special kids’ race and a treasure hunt. Remember to bring a mug for hot drinks.
