Radium Days kicks off with Friday night parade

Residents and visitors will have plenty to do during Radium Days, Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 in the Village of Radium Hot Springs.

The annual event gets rolling at 6 p.m. on Friday with the Radium Days Parade along Main Street West.

Along with events happening at the Radium Community Hall, beginning at 6:30 p.m., there will be a community market with live entertainment provided by L8.

There is a community barbecue provided by the Radium Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, in support of the Visitor Information Centre and Radium Sunrise Rotary and the Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment are presenting ‘Cram the Cruiser’ and will be accepting donations for the Columbia Valley Food Bank.

Friday’s fun will be capped by fireworks sponsored by the Radium Esso at Legends Field. The show begins when darkness descends.

Saturday begins with an 8 a.m. free community pancake breakfast, in celebration of Canfor’s 75th anniversary, at the Radium Community Hall. The breakfast runs until 9:30 a.m.

rhsbritsA special feature for Saturday is the BritsBest Car Show (pictured above) in Legends Field, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beginning at 2 p.m. will be the BritsBest Funkhana, ending at 3 p.m.

RolfThere will also be live music provided by Smarty Pants, a Kid Zone / Lazer Tag, a community barbecue in support of the Radium Rotary Club and wood carving and auction by Rolf the Wood Carver.

The day is capped with evening entertainment (19+), including a hypnotist show.
