Rockin’ weekend in the valley
The Columbia Valley is the place to be for autumn and classic vehicle lovers this upcoming weekend, Sept. 14-16.
Starting Friday, Sept. 14 is the Columbia Valley Classics Autumn Show and Shine in Radium Hot Springs. Fun gets rolling at 6 p.m. (until 9 p.m.) with Music on Main Street (in front of the visitor centre location), while an expected 900 or so classic vehicle owners register for the annual event.
A pancake breakfast follows on Saturday morning (Sept. 15), starting at 7 a.m. at the Radium Seniors’ Hall. It runs until 10 a.m. when the Show and Shine portion of the day begins at the Springs Golf Course driving range.
There will be another cruise to Invermere, starting at 4 p.m. and the day ends with a dance, featuring the music of Crossfire, at Invermere’s Joe Peters Curling Rink. (For more: http://columbiavalleyclassics.com/)
On Sunday, Sept. 16, is the 13th Annual Windermere Fall Fair & Scarecrow Festival.
The celebration of approaching autumn and a bountiful summer is staged by the Windermere Community Association at its community hall and on the playgrounds of Windermere Elementary School.
Featuring a carnival atmosphere, the 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. event is a merry blend of a giant farmers’ market and classic fall festival, with all sorts of fun and games for the whole family.
