Winterfest in Waterton
Waterton National Park is a winter wonderland on the dullest of days, but Feb. 16 and 17 should be a doozy of a weekend when Winterfest takes place.
The village in the national park nestled into the extreme southwestern corner of Alberta, about 42 km south of Pincher Creek, is rolling out a wide variety of family fun for the third annual Family Day weekend Winterfest.
Head out on snowshoes, glide away on cross-country skis or take in a fun puppet show. Join us at the Little Prairie picnic shelter on the Akamina Parkway for a hot drink, then hit the trails. Bring your own gear or rent skis and snowshoes from the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort.
In the community, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, chill out and warm up indoors, or maybe enjoy a splash in the pool. Pre-register for Art Escape and take part in an engaging painting workshop led by a local artist. And be sure to catch Mountain WIT’s Fun Fur Families, a fun-for-the-whole-family show about Waterton’s winter wildlife.
