Dennis Walker 2021 Cranbrook Citizen of the Year

Dennis Walker was today (Dec. 15) named 2021 Cranbrook Citizen of the Year.

Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce President Christine Hoechsmann made the announcement during the Chamber Spirit of Giving Luncheon at the Heritage Inn and Conference Centre.

“Dennis is incredibly deserving of this honour,” said Hoechsmann.

To quote one of his nominators: “I have never met anyone who cares about their community like Dennis Walker. He works seven days a week, not because he has to but because he believes the community needs to know what is going on.”

Walker works for 2day FM and you can hear him on the radio updating the community on news, road conditions and vital information. On weekends you will find him covering numerous community events all on his own time.

Since 1973 the chamber has coordinated the nomination and adjudication process and celebration for the Cranbrook Citizen of the Year award.

“This is an exceptional award for an extraordinary citizen,” Hoechsmann said.

“If you look at the list of past recipients it is a who’s who of what makes Cranbrook a great place to live, work and play and we are pleased to add Dennis’ name to the list.”

The Citizen of the Year gala will be held Friday, Jan. 28 at the Heritage Inn.

Tickets will be available for this event in early January.
