Lead image: Sky chart for Cranbrook on March 28, at 20:40 MDT – 39 minutes ahead of astronomical twilight (night itself will not begin until 21:59), thus the sky is much lighter than indicated by the chart – only Venus & the moon are naked-eye visible. Interactive Sky Chart – Skyandtelescope.org The line across the chart is the ecliptic – the path of planets. Jupiter and Mercury are about to set below the still bright western horizon (note “Facing West”), Venus is high in the western sky, and Mars and the waxing quarter moon are together, even higher, near the zenith.
