Arrests made following Aquatic Centre trashing

Elk Valley RCMP has made arrests related to the October 15 vandalizing of the Fernie Aquatic Centre.

On Oct. 15, Elk Valley RCMP received a report of extensive vandalism caused by numerous rocks and bricks thrown through the windows at the Aquatic Centre.

Since that time, RCMP has been working extensively on this investigation and with an anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers, two male youths have been arrested and charged with mischief over $5,000, reported Cst. Debra Katerenchuk of Elk Valley RCMP.

The two youths are expected to appear in court on March 5, 2020.

“RCMP continue with the the investigation and it is possible more arrests may be made in the very near future,” Cst. Katerenchuk said.
