Josh Dueck inducted in BC Sports Hall of Fame
With more than 900 guests in attendance at the Parq Hotel Vancouver, the BC Sports Hall of Fame formally inducted its 52nd induction class at the Induction Gala on Thursday, May 31, and Kimberley’s Josh Dueck was one of five athletes to be named to the hall.

The Induction Gala, hosted on Thursday for the second consecutive year by Global BC’s Chris Gailus and Squire Barnes, is the premier event for the BC Sports Hall of Fame and a major fundraising event for the organization, which educates British Columbians about the province’s history in sport, while inspiring young people to be committed to excellence.
The 2018 Induction Gala raised a net total of $180,000 this year.
Executive Director of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, Allison Mailer says: “On behalf of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, I congratulate our 52nd Induction Class and thank all the guests, partners, patrons, staff, volunteers and emcees, who made the Induction Gala possible. Special thanks goes to our premier partner, Victory Square Technologies, Inc.”
Induction to the BC Sports Hall of Fame recognizes extraordinary achievement in British Columbia’s athletic community in the categories of athlete, builder, team, pioneer and media. Since 1966, the BC Sports Hall of Fame has inducted 385 individuals and 60 teams.
The evening was an opportunity for guests to meet and interact with members of Vancouver’s business and sporting communities in one of the major philanthropic events of the year.
The 2018 induction class included:
Five individuals in the athlete category – Josh Dueck (para-alpine skiing); Cliff Ronning (ice hockey); Ryan Dempster (baseball); Glen Jackson (football) and Marielle Thompson (skiing / ski-Cross).
Three inductees in the coach/builder category: Alex McKechnie (sports medicine); Rob Shick (ice hockey) and Tom Johnson (swimming).
